Discipleship Training School

IMG_0997Come to know God and make Him known. Set aside 5 months of your life to focus solely on God, search yourself and discover your gifts, and gain a heart for the world around you. See how Discipleship becomes a way of life, as you give time, energy and all of yourself over to Him! You will be forever ruined for the ordinary as you experience God’s heart for you and for the nations, don’t expect to ever be the same!

DTS is comprised of two phases. The lecture phase of the school covers a variety of different topics including Hearing the Voice of God, Intercession, World Missions, Worship and Discipleship. Along with lecture, other activities include small groups, local outreach, prayer and worship times, work duties and joining in with YWAM base events. After lecture phase, each student travels overseas for his or her field assignment on a mission outreach for a period of eight weeks. This is a time to practically use everything you have learned in the classroom. The outreach locations and type of ministry will vary depending on each school. When outreach is finished, all students return to the Central Coast for one last week of teaching and de-briefing before graduation.

There will be an emphasis on evangelism, mercy ministry and training in the school and on the outreach.

Isaiah 6:8 ‘Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Are you ready to rise to the challenge and answer the call? God has given us all power and authority in His name and if we just have faith like a mustard seed, we can move mountains. Are you ready to change the world?

Cultivate DTS

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

The YWAM Pismo Beach Cultivate DTS is seeking students who want to grow closer to the heart of God. We desire to dig our roots in deep to who God is and who He’s called us to be. We want to be transformed by the Gospel and see the nations in turn transformed by the Gospel. We will be cultivating not only our relationships with God, but cultivating community, creativity, a heart for the nations, vision, passion, understanding, fun, worship, and so much more.

During lecture phase (March – June) we will spend 11 weeks hearing from amazing speakers from all over the world on topics like hearing the voice of God, worship, identity, discipleship, and the character and nature of God. In addition to lectures, we will serve in local community outreaches, small groups, serving the local church, and training for our time overseas.

Outreach phase (June – August) will be a time to put into practice the things we learned during lecture phase. We will spend 8 weeks overseas, engaging in mercy ministry, street evangelism, children’s ministry, serving in local churches, etc. We will serve in any way possible in order to expand the Kingdom and make God’s name known.

The focus of Cultivate DTS is to foster growth, to culture, to encourage, and to prepare disciples for fruitfulness. The definition of ‘cultivate’ is to improve by labor, care, or study in order to refine. Our prayer is that students leave with their roots deeply established in Christ, totally sold out for Jesus and ready to be obedient to the call on their lives.

Come dedicate the next 5 months of your life to cultivating your relationship with Jesus and seeing him transform lives and nations!

SOMD was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Incredibly challenging, usually exhausting, but I couldn’t think of a better way to spend three months. This is much more than a leadership school. While I developed in my leadership skills, I also learned so much about interpreting the Bible and what it means to completely surrender to God. My leaders put their heart and soul into my school, and it completely showed. I’m grateful to this day that I made the decision to pack up my car and leave my life for three months to follow God’s plan for my life.

SOMD was truly life-changing I would recommend it to anyone going into a business or ministry of any kind. This school prepared me to pursue being a missionary. Awesome lectures and great leadership. The staff takes extra time to direct the school in whichever way the students will grow and learn best according to their goals. Overall very personal and stretching!

The SOMD in Pismo Beach is not for the faint of heart, but those looking to step into something greater then themselves. My experience with SOMD was stretching, yet exhilarating all in one. If you’re looking for a school that’s going to push your comfort zone and give you the tools to step into the calling God has for your life then you might want to check it out.
